You know it’s second nature to be infatuated by Ré

Toronto-based Savannah Ré couldn’t keep us waiting. At 12 AM EST, 23 March, she graced our eardrums with her brand new single, “Fiji” — and as always, she did not disappoint.
A luscious song about a needy lover, a hint of ego-trip that comes from this sort of situation, Ré’s sultry song is smooth-sounding, with sway-worthy trap beats.
So needy
On the phone every time you leave me
Know you thinkin’ ‘bout it as your Fiji
Know it’s second nature when you see me
The lyrics mesh perfectly with the music. As the song plays on, one can imagine Ré — or anyone for that matter, who could relate to this situation, in a Jennifer’s Body (2009 movie starring Megan Fox) type of scene, admiring their reflection, while on the phone with a relentless person. Because for all their neediness, and their incessant doting, that person helps alleviate the ego and confidence. Ré’s gentle tone, although conveying a hint of annoyance, is also laced with amusement, showcasing a sort of enjoyment in entertaining the ballgame.
Ré also released an official Visualizer* on her YouTube channel, to accompany the song.
(Technical Term explained*
A visualizer: a simplistic visual intended to accompany a song, much like a music video or lyric video.)
The artist has had quite the year in 2021. On top of her 2020 single “Solid,” from her debut EP Opia, winning the Traditional RnB/Soul Award at the Juno Awards, (more commonly known as the JUNOs — awards presented annually to Canadian musical artists and bands, acknowledging their artistic and technical achievements in all types of music) it was also nominated for a SOCAN (Society Of Composers, Authors And Music Publishers Of Canada) songwriting prize, with the video being nominated for the 2021 Prism Prize.
She also dropped a new single that same year titled “24hrs,” and lo-and-behold Ré is now a three-time Juno nominee, as that same single is nominated for the Traditional RnB/Soul Award for the 2022 rendition of the Juno Awards.
